Anyone who has been anywhere near to BMS over the past year will have seen the building work that has been taking place, and which has already begun to transform our school. Very soon, we will reach an important milestone in our building development - the completion of the phase of framework construction - which we will celebrate together as a community on Friday March 10th in a traditional Richtfest ceremony.
This is an exciting time in the development of our school. The building work will expand the number and quality of learning spaces we will have at our disposal, adding new libraries for both Primary and Secondary sections of the school, a new auditorium and theatre space, music room and significantly increasing the number of classrooms we have at our disposal.
With the conclusion of the building framework, we will begin to see a reduction in the scaffolding and construction fence from the beginning of Spring, and the removal of the first crane from our yard. In March, our interior construction will begin, and we are still on track to have the new Secondary classrooms, offices, and rooftop garden ready for July and the new academic year.
However, though the building work will expand our learning spaces, it also represents something more important - it symbolises the growing ambition of the school. At BMS our aim is to inspire learning, to continuously strive, improve and develop what we do and how we do it. The building work is just one aspect of a range of developments and changes that are taking place, which are designed to make this happen.
I look forward to seeing you on Friday 10th March (from 15.15 onwards) as you get a first view of the new rooms, see first-hand our construction site, and discover brand new perspectives of our school campus!
