Grade 11 Geography students had the opportunity to learn more about the purpose, power, possibilities and challenges of the World Bank and discuss these with the Head of the Berlin office and Senior International Affairs Officer for Germany, Switzerland and Austria, Mr. Rainer Venghaus. The topics ranged from gender equality and food security to peace and human rights. The World Bank Group is one of the world's largest sources of funding and knowledge for developing countries. Its five institutions share a commitment to eradicating poverty, increasing shared prosperity, and promoting sustainable development in developing countries. The students were able to learn a lot about the different international projects the World Bank supports from the vast experience of Mr. Venghaus, which they can use as case studies for their Higher Level class.
