The Grade 11 IB Geography class welcomed a guest speaker from the Welthungerhilfe to their lesson to present the work and the initiatives of the organization with a special focus on the Global Hunger Index. Mr. Patterson offered the students insight into how hunger is measured and what international organizations are doing to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 2 “Zero Hunger” by the year 2030. Throughout the previous lessons, students had investigated global food security / insecurity in connection with the SDGs and also the inequality of hunger. The presentation was a great enrichment to their studies. The students were inspired by the presentation and were able to see the opportunities studying Geography can provide for their future career choices.
